There weren't enough sign-ups by the deadline to meet the attendance requirement, so there won't be an Oconomowoc camp this year. Hopefully next year.

Virtual Kentucky Dance Institute July 19-25, 2020

The annual summer Kentucky Dance Institute is going virtual for 2020.  According to their website:

It is with great sadness that we need to announce the cancellation of this summer’s in-person KDI 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Like many of you, KDI is more than just an a folkdance camp to us. KDI has always been about family. Each year we look forward to seeing old friends and making new ones. While we feel the responsibility to hold camp so everyone can dance and spend time together, the health and safety of our KDI family comes first.
BUT… with this change comes an opportunity for KDI’s first virtual dance camp! From July 19th-25th (same dates), KDI will be hosting a variety of folk dancing, games and social hours each night. So get out your dance shoes, your orange and black and figure out where you are ordering pizza from because Knobby is going digital!

Time to get your virtual self registered!  There is no cost for attending any of the virtual sessions, but to help us plan the best virtual KDI ever, we would like you to register and fill out a quick survey.  

If you haven't been able to attend KDI in the past years, going virtual is a great chance to spend some time with your KDI family and friends.  Come join us for a day, or the full week.  Knobby will be there :)

2020 Door County Folk Festival + Stockton Folk Dance Camp

The latest newsletter from Paul's Virtual Dance Room includes updates about DCFF and Stockton Folk Dance Camp:

• What's happening with the 41st Annual DC Folk Fest that was scheduled for Thu-Sun, July 9-12, 2020 in Ephraim, Wisconsin?
• Two weeks ago, all municipalities in Door County, Wisconsin canceled their Independence Day Fireworks Celebrations - (not a good sign)
• We've revised our thinking about hosting the DC Folk Fest through the auspices of the Virtual Dance Room this summer
• The Stockton Folk Dance Camp is going online from July 11-18 and will be a free event
  
•  We're scaling back the DC Folk Fest to a 1 day online event on - Friday, July 10, 2020!
  
• A revised preliminary announcement is attached and can be downloaded from www.virtualdanceroom.net/dcfolkfest/
  
• Most dance camps/festivals/workshops scheduled for this Spring and Summer are cancelling
• By moving the Festival online, we're entering into new territory that will be both exciting and challenging
• Through the Virtual Dance Room, we may now be able to reach out to a broader national and global audience
• For Festival parties (Fri-Sat-Sun), we've engaged Tom Pixton (Pinewoods Band) to play 2 x 45 minute sets for our Friday Party
  
• Tom may be joined by other musician friends
