Thank-you for Ellen memorial from Morton Arboretum

When Rose collected donations for the Naperville Riverwalk Tree in memory of Ellen there was some money left over, which was donated to the Morton Arboretum, another place that Ellen liked.  Here is the thank-you letter that Rose got from them (click on it to enlarge for readability)

Ellen Johnson Memorial Scholarship, College of Dupage

A scholarship has been established at College of Dupage to honor the memory of Ellen Johnson, a long-time folkdancer, who passed away a little over a year ago.  The first annual scholarship has just been awarded.  Here is information about how to apply, and how to donate:
http://www.cod.edu/foundation/SCHOLARSHIPS/Johnsonellen.pdf
Ellen's son says "We have guaranteed the scholarship for at least 10 years.  If the funds are there, it can go longer." Those wishing to make a contribution to the Ellen Johnson Memorial Scholarship may do so by writing a check made payable to the College of DuPage Foundation and in the memo portion of the check write “Ellen Johnson Memorial Scholarship”. Please send the check to the attention of Tom Simandl, Manager of Development, College of DuPage Foundation, 425 Fawell Blvd., Glen Ellyn, IL 60137.

Ellen's Memorial Tree + Plaque at the Naperville Riverwalk

The Naperville Park District finally received the memorial plaque for Ellen, and it's now in place by the tree, which is an Amelanchier .

Thanks to all who donated, and especially to Rose for handling the collection and Jay for making the arrangements with the Park district.  Jay also put together a flyer with a map, in case you want directions to check it out in person:

Here's a panorama of the location back in March when we picked it out, based on the recommendation from Ellen's friend Bonnie:

And here's the spot now, with the tree and the plaque in place, and summer greenery:
