PBS "Bare Feet" Dance Series

Here are a couple of links to the PBS "Bare Feet" series that Susan mentioned in the Chat during tonight's Zoom session:

Looks like it's airing in the Chicago area on WTTW-Create on Tuesdays.

And speaking of PBS dance-related series, for a blast from the past, this recent article:

Youtube channel with IFD dance-along playlists

Henry Temchin, a longtime folk dancer now living in Florida, has set up a youtube channel with IFD playlists and videos to dance along with: Folk Dance With Henry
For example:
Shelter In Place Dance Playlist #1

UPDATE 4/25/2020 from Henry: "Just a quick update: my YouTube channel  Folk Dance with Henry  https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCNpvv5ZXfbuATHPHSP4QR7A
now has 100 dance videos, three 45 minute beginner/intermediate playlists and two 2 hour intermediate playlists.  This might be viewed as replacing my two weekly sessions that aren't active right now.  I planned these playlists as I would my sessions, mixing moods, speeds, tempos, and countries."

Sad News: Myra Beniger

We received the following sad news from a friend of Myra's today:

"Regrettably, Myra Beniger, my uncle's long-time friend and folk-dancing partner, passed away on April 3, as a result of complications from the coronavirus.  She was in a nursing home in Westmont at the time she became ill.  Her funeral is this coming Tuesday at Woodlawn Cemetery in Forest Park.  I am in the process of writing an obituary and was wondering if you might have a good picture of her from her folk-dancing days that I might be able to submit along with the obituary.
I trust that you both are well, along with the other members of the Argonne Folk Dancers.  Once again, many thanks for all the love and kindness that the Argonne Folk Dancers extended to Bob and Myra."

Mike found this photo of Myra with the U of C group from some time ago:

Zoom security and privacy issues

As we and seemingly everyone else in the world have been signing onto Zoom, people have been discovering that Zoom has quite a few security and privacy issues.  Here are a few articles that people have sent me about them:

https://www.zdnet.com/article/windows-10-alert-zoom-client-can-leak-your-network-login-credentials/

https://www.vice.com/en_us/article/k7e95m/zoom-leaking-email-addresses-photos

https://www.vice.com/en_us/article/k7e599/zoom-ios-app-sends-data-to-facebook-even-if-you-dont-have-a-facebook-account

Please consider these issues, and others that have or will no doubt come to light, and decide whether you want to continue to use the Zoom app.  So far, the advantages outweigh the disadvantages for us, so we will continue with the virtual folk dance sessions using Zoom.  Even if you don't want to use the Zoom app, you can still call in on the voice phone number for audio only.

User beware...

UPDATE: Marketplace Tech has a segment about Zoom today (Apr 2, 2020):

Lastly, just for fun:
